  • Powertrain: 115hp electric motor
  • 0-to-60 Time (secs): 10.4 secs.
  • Top Speed (mph): 87 mph
  • Curb Weight (lb): 3,090 lbs.
  • Driving Range (mi): 70 to 90 mi.

Volkswagen’s e-Golf is its first fully-electric production vehicle. The unique vehicle is immediately distinguished from standard, internal combustion Golfs by its unique aluminum-alloy wheels and by its LED headlights. The interior is also updated with a new instrument cluster layout with a touchscreen display that shows a range monitor, energy flow indicator and an e-manager that allows the driver to set future departure times to ensure proper charge.

The e-Golf is powered by a 115-horsepower electric motor which allows the vehicle to reach 25 mph from rest in 4.2 seconds and to get to 60 mph in approximately 10.4 seconds. Depending on driving style and charging behavior, the average range for the e-Golf is between 70 and 90 miles.

VW says the e-Golf can be fully recharged in four hours using a dedicated 220-volt wallbox in a garage or carport, while a standard household plug (110 volts) will take about 20 hours; a DC fast-charge option is also available giving the car an 80 percent charge in about 30 minutes. If a customer runs the e-Golf out of power within 100 miles of their home, VW will have the vehicle towed to a nearby charging source at no cost and will even pay for a taxi for the customer, if desired.
