Volkswagen Design Vision GTI Concept

Volkswagen showed off its Design Vision GTI Concept at the 2013 L.A. Auto Show. This GTI is powered by a 503hp twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine which gets it to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds. This is the same type of engine used in the regular GTI except instead of a 2.0-liter four cylinder with a single turbo it has a 3.0-liter V6 using twin turbochargers. Power is delivered to all four wheels via a DSG dual-clutch transmission. The concept is also fitted with ceramic disk brakes and red-painted calipers behind 20″ aluminum alloy wheels.

The exterior styling includes a distinctive C-pillar which stands proud of the vehicle and aggressive cooling vents and air intakes in the front. The GTI trademark redline can be seen dividing the headlights horizontally.

Inside, the design follows the team’s “pure GTI” goal, with a clean look having a minimum number of switches to allow the driver to focus on the road. The interior has carbon fiber and Alcantara as well as Nappa leather in shades of black and red.
