Formula E Electric Race Car: Test Laps

While it’s going to take us a while to get used to the near silence, and strange whine of the all-electric Spark-Renault SRT_01E Formula E race car, we’re still impressed with the speed, torque and handling these incredible modern marvels offer. In this clip, we get a glimpse of the car running on a prototype 50kW battery as part of a 40 lap test. This battery generates only about a 1/4 of the 270hp power that the final power pack will produce, but it’s still neat to see such an awesome looking EV take to the track.

The Spark-Renault team is currently preparing for their first race, scheduled for September 2014 in Beijing, China.
