Volkswagen Hybrid XL1 Spotted on the Street

Volkswagen’s high-tech XL1 is designed to provide incredibly high fuel efficiency thanks to its combination diesel/electric hybrid drivetrain. And while the car was once looked at as something that would never make it past the concept phase, it’s actually being turned into a true production vehicle “for select markets.” One fortunate Redditor was out on the streets in the suburbs around Paris, France, and managed to sneak a peek at the VW XL1 driving in traffic.

While someday this may be a normal sight, for now, it’s a very special treat to see such a futuristic looking vehicle tooling around the city amongst its gas-guzzling dinosaur cousins.
