Driving a Porsche 356A Speedster

Written by Paul Strauss | February 5, 2014

The 1956 Porsche 356A T1 Speedster was one of the most stripped down and track-friendly cars of its day. Despite having just a 60hp engine, its light weight, and open cabin gives drivers a tremendous sense of speed and control. You can even remove the windshield for an even more visceral experience. While we’ve never driven one personally, our friends at Petrolicious met up with owner Jon Warshawsky to learn about the car, and go for a ride along in his.

This beautifully restored car was actually used in races, having won the E-Production Championship in 1963. In fact, almost every one of the car’s first 50,000 miles were done on a race track.

We’re always impressed at just how much fun can still be had in vintage vehicles which contradict today’s high-tech, high-horsepower trends.
