From the Vaults: 1980 Datsun 280ZX Commercial

The Datsun 280Z was a true classic of the 1970s. The car was upgraded and relaunched as the 280ZX in 1979, with refinements to comfort and design which were initially met with mixed reviews, despite scoring Motor Trend’s Import Car of the Year in its first year. Ultimately, the ZX was a success, and in 1980, Datsun released a limited-edition 10th anniversary 280 in “Black Gold.”

This commercial for the car perfectly captures the style of the year, chockful of cheesy laser sound effects, a silly chorus, overdone hair and makeup, and a dude with an epic moustache. If you don’t watch the commercial for the car, at least watch it for the ‘stache.
