The Cosmotron: A Custom Car from the Future

Paul Baker spent 18 months building the kind of car from the 1960s that he always loved: a futuristic dome-topped “car of the future.” Built on a BMW Z3 chassis, covered in sculpted polystyrene and fiberglass, the Cosmotron garners loads of attention at car shows and everywhere it goes. In addition to its acrylic bubble dome, it’s got a huge straight six engine that sticks out of its hood.

Baker kept the car for two years after he completed it, but has since sold it to fellow enthusiast, Martin Smith. Smith enjoys driving the car and all the attention he gets and Baker has moved on to another build project.

Barcroft Cars spent some time with both Baker and Smith to go for a spin in the car and hear their stories.
