Land Rovers Create Giant Sand Drawing of… a Land Rover

Written by Paul Strauss | January 7, 2015

To celebrate the final year of production of Land Rover’s stalwart Defender, the company sent a fleet of six classic Land Rover out to the UK’s Red Wharf Bay on a mission to create an immense artwork.

Inspired by the tale of Land Rover engineer Maurice Wilks, who supposedly sketched the outline of the first ever Land Rover in sand on the same beach, the vehicles each pulled one of those chains you see them using to prepare the sand on a baseball diamond. In the end, they created a gigantic sand drawing of outline of a Land Rover Defender, comprised of over 2.8 miles of outlines.
