I Want This Turbo ’72 Datsun 510

Back in the day, my next-door neighbor had an old Datsun 510. I remember its boxy shape well. It was a four-door and I remember thinking it was an ugly car. Young me thought to be cool your car needed a Rebel Flag on top or a screaming chicken on the hood. These days, I think the Datsun 510 looks really cool.

The 510 looks especially sweet in two-door and tastefully modified form like this example that turned up on /TUNED. This little rear-wheel drive beast started with a modest 95hp, but a turbo tossed on the engine gives this version about four times that power. It’s almost perfectly balanced too, which makes it especially nimble.

It also has a roll bar, four-point harness system, and racing seats. I would so love to take this thing to the track. Check out the video of the car to see and hear it for yourself.
