Porsche 911 GT3 RS Tipped to Produce 500hp

Last month, I mentioned a spy shot of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS that had turned up. The car was pictured sitting unassumingly in a parking garage in Germany and it looked fantastic. One of the things we wondered at the time was how much power the car would produce and just how fast will it be.

What we know so far about the 911 GT3 RS is that it will have a 4.0L engine. More details have surfaced hinting that the car will produce 500hp and 460Nm (~339 lb-ft) of torque. That is a lot of power from an engine of its size. The car will only be offered with a PDK automatic transmission, with no three pedal setup for purists.

The car is also tipped to get torque vectoring and a sport tuned rear-wheel steering setup. If it’s anything like the rig in the 911 Turbo S, it should handle incredibly. One interesting tidbit is that the car will use a magnesium alloy roof along with carbon fiber reinforced plastic hood and fenders. If you need any more proof that this is as car with only enough “street” in its blood to make it legal, the beast even has a pit speed limiter for use at the racetrack.

The car is expected to make its official debut in Europe this Spring.
