This Is The Funniest Looking Racing Crash Ever

Normally, crashes in racing are either abjectly terrifying or just involve a lot of cars spinning around and spewing sand in to the air. It’s always dramatic, but it’s rarely hilarious. This crash from the 73rd Goodwood Members’ Meeting was between a few 1000cc F3 cars from ’64-’70, and it was indeed hilarious. It looks like a really, really poorly done movie stunt. You expect to see stuff like this in SyFy Channel orignal racing movies about an alien goldfish who came to Earth to dominate open-wheel racing, not in real life. The best part is that the driver of the flying F3 car’s response was just to think “well, that sure was unusual” and then finish the race. Pure badassery.

Is the a physicist in the house who can explain this particular accident? I want to understand the conditions that would lead to something like this.
