New Shelby GT350 Will Make at Least 520hp

Over the weekend, Ford was on hand at an event at Texas World Speedway and Shelby brand manager Jim Owens gave up lots of details on the new Shelby GT350. One of the most important was a confirmation of sorts on just how much power the car will make.

Owens said that the flat-plane 5.2 liter V8 would make over 100 hp/liter. That means that the car will have at least 520hp. That a firmer number than the “more than 500hp” for has been boasting about so far. We also know that the car will have an 8250 RPM redline.

A version of the car is coming for racing that will be called the GT350S. We still don’t have a firm price; Owens calls the car a “relative performance value.” Rumors peg the price at around $50,000 for starters on the GT350. The on-sale date is tipped for early in Q4 with some suggestion that a limited amount of the cars might be available as 2015 models later this year.
