The Definitive Uber Tackles the Streets of Stockholm

This is not exactly the Uber driver you would expect to show up on your doorstep. Instead of a nice Honda Accord or a minivan with a crisp bottle of water at the ready, Sweden app users got a surprise when they ordered up the alternative taxi service over the weekend: freeskiing star Jon Olsson in his 900-plus horsepower Audi RS6 DTM.

Uber and Olsson released this promo for the upcoming Gumball Rally 3000 kicking off in Sweden before moving on to the United States for the finish of the 3000-mile transatlantic race. On his day of chauffeuring, taking care not to break any motoring laws, Olsson treated 11 lucky Uber customers to a tour in his incredibly tricked out Audi station wagon. How tricked out? The engine of the RS6, designed with help from Koenigsegg head designer Leif Tufvesson, sports custom 18-karat gold anodized turbo chargers.

Olsson can’t really open it up on the city streets of Stockholm, but the exhaust note of the car even at low speeds is a joy to hear. After taking a spin, a passenger says something you’re likely never to hear after most taxi rides: “That was the best 15 minutes of my life.”
