Driver Does Goodwood Hill Climb with Two Wheels off the Ground

At this past weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, a world record was set that wasn’t all that fast, but it was mighty damn skillful.

Renowned stunt car driver Terry Grant got into the Guinness Book of World Records when he got behind the wheel of the GT-R powered Nissan Juke Nismo RS and drove it up the very challenging 1.16-mile course, averaging a very respectable 30 mph along the way – on two wheels.

The video of the stunt is quite riveting, especially at the start, when just after Grant hits the ramp to get the funky little Nissan up on two wheels, things get a little dicey. But after it looks like he’s going to either flip or go back on all fours, he quickly gets control and off he goes. As you might think, and as the announcers explain, the wheels that Grant is balancing on are trashed by the end of the run and have to be replaced, but that’s a small price to pay for setting to set such an unusual record. Grant also holds the record for driving the course backwards, so I can only imagine what he might try next. Maybe pushing it up the course himself?
