Toyota Camry V6 to Retire in Favor of Turbo 2.0L Four

Yesterday we talked a bit about the Lexus IS 200t and the fact that it would be replacing its V6 engine with a turbo four. Today, word has surfaced that Toyota will be replacing the V6 in the Camry with a turbo 2.0L four as well.

I have to think these are probably the same engine. I’d also bet that it will make more power in Lexus form than in Camry duty. The Camry is an incredibly bland car if you ask me. Perhaps the turbo four will make it more exciting. I rather doubt that though.

The Camry is also tipped to get a CVT transmission for improved fuel economy. There is no word on when the new engine might land in the U.S. at this time. The base four in the Camry is expected to change as well, perhaps moving to an Atkinson cycle.
