Land Rover Discovery Pedal Car Costs More than a Real 4×4

I think you only need to look as far as the new Land Rover Evoque convertible to see that the company has a bit of a crazy streak. Another unusual product to surface from Land Rover recently is this Defender pedal car. Yes a pedal car, as in kid’s toy, but this is a very, very high-end toy.

The Defender Pedal car sells for £10,000 (~$15,000 USD); you could buy a nice used 4×4 for that price. Clearly, this is aimed at wooing posh children to the Land Rover brand before they can even drive.

It is designed to look like the soon to be retired Defender SUV, and comes in Loire Blue, the same color available on full-size Defenders. The pedal car is hand built in the UK with a rolled-edge aluminum frame. Each is individually numbered and has a personalized numberplate. The pedal mechanism allows the car to be driven forward and in reverse and it has off-road tires and a parking brake.

The toy off-roader is described as a concept, but it will go into production with deliveries by spring 2016.
