Ferrari Takes Us Inside the F12tdf Engine

The other day, I talked about the Ferrari F12tdf, a special massaged version of the F12berlinetta. Among various upgrades, Ferrari squeezed 30 more horsepower out of that big V12 under the berlinetta’s hood. An additional 30 horses may not sound like much, but when you consider how highly tuned the V12 already was, bumping the output took some work.

Ferrari has now published a video that takes us inside the development of the engine, and I mean literally inside. The bump in power took a host of small modifications. The mods include things like variable-geometry intake trumpets, mechanical tappets, and a lighter intake plenum among others.

I won’t give all the magic away; just check out the video to see for yourself. This car might look like a Corvette, but it’s all Ferrari underneath.
