Marty & Doc Get a Real Mr. Fusion, Sorta.

Happy Back to the Future day! To celebrate, our friends at Toyota had a couple of fun things up their sleeves. For starters, we got a shiny new black Tacoma pickup truck, just like the HiLux that Marty drove. And now, we’ve got Christopher Lloyd and Michael J. Fox reunited to learn about a vehicle that can run on waste products, like a real life Mr. Fusion.

Scientist Mischa Pollack walks the duo through the technology, and some familiar Hill Valley locales along the way. Sure, the idea that the hydrogen/electric-powered Toyota Mirai works like Doc Brown’s futuristic food processor is a stretch, but it’s still a fun clip, and worth a watch for any Back to the Future fan. Though I was hoping that Toyota would show off a flying car today.
