Holden HSV GTS-R Trademark Hints at Souped-up Commodore

Back in August, I mentioned that rumors were swirling that Holden would cram a supercharged 638 hp V8 from the Corvette ZR-1 under the hood of its final hopped up Commodore. The catch with this final Commodore is that it will be a very limited edition. GM has a short supply of those ZR1 V8 engines, so production is thought to be under 200 units if the car happens.

The latest tidbit points to Holden gearing up for that special GTS-R edition with a trademark turning up that was filed a bit over a year ago. The GTS-R trademark covers vehicles and merchandise.

It’s nice to see some new info suggesting the special car will happen. I hope that we get a few special Chevy SS models here in the States as well. Presumably, with the Commodore going out of production, we will see the end of the SS, which will be a sad day since it’s such a fun car to drive.
