Regular Car Reviews Checks out an Ariel Atom 3

The Ariel Atom isn’t a car you buy for fuel economy, comfort, or utility. It’s a car you buy to have fun in and tear up the race track. The first Ariel Atom that I ever saw at the track was driven by none other than drag racing legend Eddie Hill. Turns out Eddie owns a motorcycle and powersports dealership that happens to sell the Atom on the side. Despite being nearly 80 years old, Eddie can drive the hell out of this lightweight track day car.

As cool as it is to see a pro-level driver hooning an Atom around the track, it’s still cool to see your average Joe out on the public roads in one. And the most average of Joes, Regular Car Reviews spent some time in a 2012 Atom 3 and took it for a spin. Naturally, they reviewed it with their trademark smartassery, poking fun at the “street legal” aspect of the ridiculously impractical, yet ridiculously fun track day toy.

If you want something that is a cross between a motorcycle and a Miata, this is the ticket. Watch the video and see what the RCR crew thought.
