World’s Fastest Log Hits 90mph

Whover set this record must have had some serious abdominal strength to shoot out a log at 90 mph. Oh, wait it’s not that kind of log… my bad. This Guinness World Record is for a car made from a LOG, as in a tree. That makes more sense. According to Guinness folk, to take top prize, the car has to be made from a carved log with locations for a motor, and the driver has to steer the log from inside the log. What you can’t pedal it with your feet?

The winners of the record are Bryan Reid Sr. and John Overton, and their car called the Cedar Rocket. It looks so unsafe, Ralph Nader must be positively apoplectic right now. It has a wooden roll bar that barely tops the driver’s helmet. I’m sure that’ll help in a roll over.

Bryan Reid Sr. Breaks a World Record

Reid took the log car up to a top speed of 90mph over a quarter mile track at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona. The log rides on a Mazda RX-8 frame and has independent suspension and disc brakes. Power comes from a 35 hp direct drive electric motor. Clearly, the rotary blew up, which is no surprise honestly.
