Alpine Eyeing Mercedes-AMG Power

Renault’s Alpine division is looking to get power for its lineup from the open market, or perhaps from one of the firms that are involved in parent company Renault’s tech deal – Nissan or Daimler. While Nissan might not have any engines this side of the GT-R that are exciting, Daimler has some serious tech in the Mercedes-AMG side of things.

Word is that Alpine is eyeing using those Mercedes-AMG engines in its car. While the small Alpine Vision concept coming later this year may well get a Mercedes-AMG turbo 4, larger Alpine cars could get the 3.0L twin-turbo V6.

I love the style of that Alpine Vision concept and I hope it gets enough power to go with those good looks. Alpine plans on offering “everything that is usably in a sporty brand” as far as vehicle types. We assume that means coupes, convertibles, and hatchbacks. Sadly, none of those are likely to make it to the US any time soon.
