The Mighty Roar of the Abarth 124 Spider

Of all the cars coming out this year, the one I’m currently most excited about driving is the Abarth 124 Spider. After all, this 2-seater shares its DNA with the already awesome Mazda MX-5, but it looks even better, has a more powerful engine, and then to top things off, it’s been massaged by the house of Abarth. If there’s one thing that Abarth knows how to do, it’s to make exhaust notes that sound awesome. Even with a diminutive engine, the FIAT 500 Abarth sounds incredible straight from the factory, so I was really looking forward to hearing what they did for the 124.

Well thanks to car fanatic NM2244, we now have some footage of the 124 Abarth strutting its stuff, and as I had hoped, its exhaust note is sublime. The quad pipes offer up a satisfying growl that belies the 170hp 4-banger under the hood, and are sure to bring a big grin to all who buy one.
