Bugatti President Scares Writer in a Chiron

A very lucky dude from Car Throttle got the chance to be the very first writer geek to take a ride in the new Bugatti Chiron hypercar on the Nürburgring, with Bugatti president Wolfgang Dürheimer behind the wheel. I am very jealous if I am honest.

I have been waiting to see and hear this car driven with some passion, and we finally have that in this video. If you’d like to skip all the talking, and get right to the action, skip to 6:10. The car certainly doesn’t have the scream of an Italian exotic, but it definitely sounds good. The big Bugatti seems to be a decent handler as well. Bugatti says that 60,000 liters of air flow through its 8.0-liter, quad-turbo W16 engine per minute of operation. DANG.

While they probably got nowhere near its speed limiter, the Chiron used for the ride had its top speed limited to 261 mph. Word is the car might be good for 300 mph. Yes, that’s 300 MILES PER HOUR! The Bugatti exec says that their next official top speed world record attempt will be in 2018. I have to wonder why that attempt is so far away.
