Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R Racer Breaks Cover

Chevy has unveiled a new race car called the Camaro GT4.R. The car is inspired by the Camaro ZL1 1LE. The big difference is there are lots more aero bits to keep this car stuck to the track.

The engine in the GT4.R is a race-prepped version of the naturally-aspirated 6.2-liter small-block LT1 V8 used in Camaro SS, and not the supercharged LT4 from the ZL1 though. It also has a 6-speed paddle shift transmission and limited-slip differential from Xtrac. Naturally the car is also festooned with all the requisite track safety gear.

The GT4-R will race in the Pirelli World Challenge GTS class and the Continental SportsCar Challenge Grand Sport class. The first race will come this weekend at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
