XCAR Drives Jaguar’s Rare C-X75 Prototype

Jaguar has definitely stepped up its game in the past couple of years, but we still wish they had actually gone through with production of the C-X75 concept, which first reared it’s head back in 2010. Only five prototypes were made, and XCAR managed to get behind the wheel of one of these amazing hybrid hypercars.

The original concept included a zero-emission electric drive system powered by jet turbines, though Jaguar’s production plans included a more readily built plug-in hybrid drivetrain. With Jaguar releasing updated prototype footage earlier this year, we were hoping that the C-X75 might still see the light of day. Unfortunately, economic concerns caused Jaguar to pull the plug on the limited-edition vehicle due to a price tag that was likely to exceed $1 million.

While the C-X75 may never see the light of day, XCAR managed to get up close and personal with the fully-formed prototypes, and even took one for a spin. Be sure to check it out if want to see what a 900 horsepower, 200mph hybrid drives like.
