Time-Lapse: Building a Car in Under Three Minutes

Written by Kenny Hoeschen | December 5, 2013

This fascinating time-lapse film shows the creation of a car, from the car’s perspective, in less than three minutes. Filmed using GoPro cameras, the crew set them up in SEAT’s Martorell production facility as they created a new Leon ST.

The Martorell factory currently employs 10,000 employees and over 2,800 robots to produce around 2,000 cars per day. Without the aid of time-lapse photography, building a Leon ST, which is comprised of 5,900 separate parts and 1,580 meters of cable, takes 19 hours.

Unfortunately, the video clip is in a paltry 360p resolution, but we’ll try and dig up a higher-res version should it become available.
