2014 Alfa Romeo 4C
The new 2014 Alfa Romeo 4C is a lightweight and very fast rear-engine, two-seater sports car. In fact, the 4C recently recorded the fastest lap on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife ever recorded by a car with less than 250 horsepower at just 8 minutes, 4 seconds. The 4C is propelled that quickly by the turbocharged, 237 horsepower, four-cylinder transverse-mounted engine tucked behind the seats. No manual transmission will be available, but the latest-generation “Alfa TCT” dry twin clutch transmission seems to do the job very nicely.
Handling is achieved through a double-wishbone front suspension attached to a carbon-fiber monocoque with a performance-tuned McPherson arrangement in the rear. The ventilated, cross-drilled brakes come fitted with Brembo calipers. The exhaust is specifically tuned to emit a full sound and the seats designed to optimize road feel.
Built in the Maserati plant in Modena, only 3,500 of the super-quick two-door coupes will be produced each year.
