While most of us have heard of the Jaguar XKR-S, the XCS Fusion Cobra isn’t quite as much of a household name – even in gearhead circles. But this modern-day tribute to the classic Shelby Cobra is an impressive little ride, sporting a Chevrolet LS3 V8 under the hood, boosted to 639bhp. Add to that the fact that the Cobra weighs in at just 2381 pounds, and you’ve got an insane power-to-weight ratio of 590 brake horses per metric ton.

In this clip from Autocar, Steve Sutcliffe pits the XCS 427 Cobra replica against his long-term loaner 542bhp XKR-S in a drag race. The Jag is no slouch. Helped along by launch control, it hits 100mph in under nine seconds. Unfortunately, it also weighs over than 60% more than the Cobra, so you can imagine how this turns out.
