2015 Subaru WRX Tears up Some Dirt

Written by Paul Strauss | December 14, 2013

We got a look at the new Subaru WRX when it debuted at the 2013 L.A. Auto Show, but all we saw were still images of the car. Now, Subaru has released a brief video of the WRX ripping up a dirt track. While we’re still not too sure about the decision to go with a CVT automatic, we’re pleased with Subaru’s other upgrades, which include a slightly more powerful 268hp turbocharge Boxer engine, torque vectoring, and the modifications to the suspension to reduce body roll. And there’s a 6-speed manual available for those who prefer to remain in full control.

Of course, a promo spot like this doesn’t really give us a taste for how the new WRX handles in comparison to prior models. We’ll have to wait until we get our hands on one. While we’re not totally sold on the looks of this model, we’re not too worried – there will be lots of upgrades and mod kits to trick them out down the road. We’re waiting to see what the STi model has to offer, though.
