DiamondBack Leaning Trike

Written by Paul Strauss | December 18, 2013

The DiamondBack is an open-air three-wheeled vehicle that combines the thrill of racing motorcycles with the ease and safety of driving a car. Pneumatically-operated front wheels lean into turns to add to driver excitement. Plus, its active suspension system automatically maintains the proper ride height. It’s driven by a powerful Suzuki Hayabusa engine, and its driver is surrounded by a heavy-duty rollcage.

It will also offer a pneumatically-powered canopy for easy entry and exit, while still providing protection. Ultimately, they plan on offering such comforts as heating and air conditioning, as well as a smartphone dock for GPS, music and hands-free phone calls.

DiamondBack is currently raising funds for production of its first vehicles over on Kickstarter. While the completed production vehicles are expected to retail for about $30,000, early backers can get a DiamondBack chassis for just $10,000 – though it’s unclear how much additional cost there will be to complete the vehicle.

The crowdfunding project only needs to raise $35,000 to hit its modest goal by January 4. If you’re interested in learning more, be sure to check out their Kickstarter page.
