Renault Creates Life-size Slot-car Track in London

Written by Kenny Hoeschen | December 20, 2013

Scalextric has been building 1:32 scale slot-car racing sets since 1957, but we doubt they’ve ever created any set quite like this. Renault created a full-size, 1.9 mile long, electric slot-car set on the streets of London, with two of its electric ZOE cars zipping around in the slots.

The cars were controlled by two contest winners who were flying above London in helicopters to take command of the giant electric slot-cars. We’re skeptical on just how much of this was real and how much was faked in CGI for the video – particularly the crossovers on the track and the rear wheels sliding out around the corner, but we enjoyed it immensely just the same.
