Gremlin: The New American Car

by Paul Strauss

This is how they did it in the days before PowerPoint. Greg’s Automotive dug up this awesomely retro bit of automotive history which features a sales training presentation for the original 1970 AMC Gremlin. The presentation offers up arguments about fuel economy and design as it goes up against the imports and its top competitor – the VW Beetle, and it’s fans “The Bug Boosters.”

And before you go pointing out the way they spelled “Datson”, that’s actually how it was spelled at one time – back in the 1930s.

While the Gremlin was arguably a pretty crappy car when all was said and done, it’s certainly an iconic American vehicle of the 1970s.
