Subaru unveiled the all-new 2015  WRX STI at this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit along with a limited edition WRX STI Launch Edition. The new WRX STI packs the venerated 305-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged BOXER engine under the hood, attached to a six-speed manual transmission.

Subaru has also introduced Active Torque Vectoring technology to the WRX STI, improving the vehicle’s handling. That’s on top of a Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential, Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, Multi-Mode Vehicle Dynamics Control and a Brembo Performance Brake System with Super Sport ABS. With more high-tensile steel in the frame, the WRX STI also has a stiffer body than previous models.

Inside, the four-door performance sedan comes with new Alcantara seating surfaces accented by red and black leather bolsters and red stitching. It also has a motorsports-inspired flat-bottom steering wheel and new whiplash-reducing performance-design front seats with height and tilt-adjustable head restraints. The STI Design electroluminescent gauge panel gets a new 3.5-in. central LCD screen and a multi-information 4.3″ central LCD screen.

On the outside, the design includes a bolder front design with a “nose-cone” configuration that combines the grille and bumper cap into one unit ahead of the hood. The narrower headlight clusters sport new LED low-beam headlights.

The WRX STI Launch Edition will be limited to just 1,000 units and features WR Blue paint and gold BBS forged alloy wheels and unique interior trim. It also comes with an STI short-throw shifter.
