Audi R8 V10 vs. Audi R8 LMS Ultra

It seems as if every video of the Nürburgring these days takes us on the Nordschleife, but this spot from /DRIVE  puts us on the lesser-seen Grand Prix track. Host Chris Harris first gets behind the wheel of an off-the-shelf Audi R8 V10 S-Tronic street car, and it’s certainly no slouch. But once he hops inside the $440,000 R8 LMS Ultra GT3 you realize just how different a proper race car is.

While it’s not quite as powerful as the street car, the handling, transmission and braking is where the mid-engine race car really shines. Surprisingly, it’s much more forgiving than other pro GT3 racers. Unfortunately, the track was wet when they shot this, so he couldn’t really push the LMS Ultra to its limits.

It does sort of crack us up when Chris calls this screaming V10 beast “a really, really pleasant car to drive.”
