The History of the Audi Quattro

Chris Harris of /DRIVE looks into the history of Audi and the Quattro GmbH motorworks that developed it. When it made its debut back in 1980, the quattro had a 200 horsepower, 5-cylinder engine and impressive all-weather performance. When the car entered its first rally, driven by Hannu Mikkola, its performance was startling. And Audi went on to dominate world rallying for the next three years. Audi later focused on bringing the quattro technology over to its street production vehicles, including the highly regarded RS4 and RS6, now each in their third generation.
