Off Road in an All-Electric Land Rover Defender

Robert Llewellyn is a British comedian and TV host who is also an electric car and alternative energy enthusiast. His YouTube program, Fully Charged, focuses on the world of electric cars and renewable energy. In this episode, Llewellyn discusses his love for the Land Rover Defender he drove for nearly 20 years while going for a drive in an all-electric Defender which he takes for a bit of off-road adventure.

The prototype vehicle has a range of only 50 miles and is just used for testing concepts. But, when he takes the Defender into a river, Llewellyn doesn’t have to worry about getting water sucked into the air intake which is a nice benefit of not having a combustion engine under the hood (truth be told, the river’s not that deep).

It seems like a great concept, but good luck finding a charging station on the Serengeti.
