BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé Announced

Written by Kenny Hoeschen | February 4, 2014

BMW has added another four-door vehicle to its range with the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé. The car is essentially the four-door 3 series with a tailgate hatch instead of a trunk, providing for more utility. It’s slightly longer and wider (each by about half an inch) than the 3-series sedan, and about 1.5 inches lower.

U.S. buyers will have the option of two gasoline power plants; either the 428i GC with a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four with 240hp that does 0-to-60 mph in 5.7 seconds, or the 435i GC with a 300hp 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six that does the same in 4.9 seconds. European consumers have many more options, including a smaller, 181hp gasoline engine in the 420i and two diesels, the 418d with a 141hp 2.0-liter turbo and the 420d with a 181hp 2.0 turbo.

The 428i begins at $41,225(USD) and the 428i X Drive at $43,225. The 435i will start at $46,725 with the X Drive pricing forthcoming.
