Hennessey Venom GT Breaks Speed Record

by Paul Strauss

Reaching a top speed of 270.49mph, the Hennessey Venom GT is now the record holder for the world’s fastest two-seat sports car, besting the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. The company revealed that on February 14, 2014, driver Brian Smith performed the feat at the 2.4 mile point on the 3.2-mile-long Space Shuttle landing runway at Florida’s Kennedy Space Center.

In case you’re unfamiliar with the Venom GT, it weighs just 2,743lbs, and is powered by a 7.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with an astounding 1,244bhp.

You’ll definitely want to check out their incredibly fast run in the video.
