The Devil’s Playground: Over the Edge at Pikes Peak

In 2012, Jeremy Foley was racing in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb as part of the Evolution Dynamics team when his Mitsubishi Evo went over the edge at the corner known as the “Devil’s Playground.” Foley and his co-driver, Yuri Kouznetsov, flew through the air and tumbled over 1,000 feet down the side of the mountain. Fortunately, thanks to all the safety equipment – and surely some bit of luck – both Foley and Kouznetsov were OK.

To showcase the importance of the safety equipment, Recaro put together this video of the crash. Recaro went to Lewisville, Texas to meet with the Evolution Dynamics team to talk to driver Jeremy Foley, co-pilot Yuri Kouznetsov, and car builder Kevin Dubois about the hill climb and to hear why it’s so important to have the right safety equipment.
