How to Pass 15 Cars in One Lap at Sebring

Stevan McAleer didn’t have the starting position he wanted at the Continental Tire Series race at Sebring International Raceway. Although he had the fastest qualifying time, a technical issue during the post-qualifying inspection meant he started in the last position. But that didn’t stop the C.J. Wilson team and McAleer’s No. 5 Mazda MX-5 racer from getting back up towards the front and he did so by passing 15 cars in the first lap. McAleer and his co-driver Chad McCumbee ended up taking second place in the race.

This hair-raising video of McAleer passing cars is intense and you’ll probably cringe as you watch McAleer weave his way through jostling traffic. How race drivers can keep track of all the cars around while they’re five inches from the car in front going around a corner is nothing short of astounding. It’s almost like driving the Eisenhower during rush hour in Chicago.
