Global RallyCross 2013 Highlight Reel

A thrilling highlight reel captured on GoPro cameras, showing off the chaotic and aggressive Global RallyCross series from last year. There’s just something so fun about a motorsport in which nudging each other to pass is not only acceptable, it’s encouraged. For those of you unfamiliar with the sport, it involves fast-paced racing heats with up to 10 small rally cars on a track made of a mix of dirt and asphalt. The track also has a large jump in the middle to keep things even more exciting. The whole thing plays out sort of like a video game in real life – if supercross and rally racing had a baby.

The cars used are modified production vehicles, amped up with 600 horsepower engines and anti-lag systems, and fitted with reinforcements to withstand the punishing jumps. Adding to the challenge for drivers, the cars have no electronic traction control.

The 2014 GRC season kicks off this May in Barbados, and has stops in a number of cities around the U.S.
