In this incredible piece of archive footage, legendary race driver and sports car builder Carroll Shelby discusses the development of the Shelby Cobra and the track testing that Shelby did for the Cobra along with the Ford GT and the Ford Mustang GT350. Shelby and his team of test drivers took the cars to Willow Springs International Raceway in the Mojave Desert of California to put them through their paces.

Driver Pete Brock explained the racing line and demonstrated the correct way through the corners – the entry and exit points and hitting the apex – in a Mustang GT350. Then Ken Miles hits the track with the fastest production sports car of its time, the Shelby Cobra. And, finally, the Ford GT hit the track with driver Dan Gurney behind the wheel.

The film was made when the Ford GT was just in the development phases and hadn’t yet been truly tested in a race. The Ford GT went on to compete in its first race: the Daytona Continental, a race it would go on to win.
