Carbon Fiber Audi-Powered Lotus Exige for Sale

This Lotus Exige began life as a 2001 Lotus Elise, but it’s been transformed into a superfast sports car that will probably pull the doors off anything in your hometown. It seems the Australian owner first decided to replace the body with a full carbon fiber body from a Lotus Exige. Then they stuffed a 550 horspower Audi 2.2-liter in-line 5-cylinder, 20-valve turbocharged engine under the hood and tied it to a 6-speed O2M gearbox. Turns out, that power is about 5x what originally came with the Lotus Elise.

You can purchase this very hot, lightweight car  in Australia for $99,999 AUD (~$94,000 USD). It’s probably not worth looking at unless you have access to a track, because this car will be sad going under the speed limit around town.
