Audi recorded another history victory at the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing at 1 and 2 and clinching the automaker’s 13th overall win at the famed race. Audi ran three of its R18 e-tron quattros after welcoming 16-time winner Porsche back to the event in style. But Audi’s victory wasn’t made easy when Audi’s No. 1 car was literally destroyed during a practice lap and Audi scrambled to rebuild a new R18 e-tron quattro overnight to compete in the event.

Audi No. 2 won the race and was driven by Marcel Fassler, Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer who had to overcome early turbocharger problems. The rebuilt Audi No. 1 car finished three laps behind and took second place. The No. 2 Audi took the lead in the 22nd hour when the Porsche No. 20 car was relegated to the pits due to a drivetrain problem.
