Land Rover is teasing an upcoming Range Rover model that will be positioned as a high performance SUV. The new model has not yet been named, but as you can see in the teaser video, Land Rover will be showcasing the vehicle’s performance capabilities on the Nürburgring.

The current leader in the Range Rover lineup boasts a 510 horsepower supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine, and we don’t yet know exactly what the new one will have under the hood, but Auto Express is reporting that it will push 542 horsepower out of a supercharged V8 brought over from the Jaguar XJR sedan. That should get the vehicle from 0-to-100 kmh (62 mph) time of around 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 165 mph.

We’re not sure who want to drive a Range Rover that fast to begin with, but if you’re going to drive a big SUV you might as well make it one that’s fun to drive. And Porsche has certainly shown there’s a market for it with the Cayenne S.
