Tesla Model X Confirmed for Early 2015 Deliveries

For those in the market for Tesla’s first SUV, you’ll be happy to know that the company has announced that it will start to ship its first Model X vehicles in early 2015. First shown off in early 2012, the Model X takes what we know and love about the all-electric Model S, and stretches it into an utility form factor.

The Model X most iconic feature is its folding “falcon-wing” doors which can raise and lower to allow ease of entry and exit of rear seat passengers, while still fitting in the space of a conventional door when opening. Tesla has also confirmed that the Model X will come with standard all-wheel drive, and those who need to carry more than five passengers can opt for a third row of seats. Of course, the fact that the Performance model can zip from 0-to-60 in under five seconds is what gets us really excited about it.

Tesla plans on wrapping up its first fully-functional Model X prototypes this Fall, and will start delivering to those with early reservations will start receiving cars a few months later. For those who make reservations now, delivery is estimated for Fall 2015.
