An Unfair Race: McLaren P1 vs. Caterham 160R

by Paul Strauss

In this promotional clip for Top Gear Magazine, they conducted a 1/4-mile drag race between a McLaren P1 and a Caterham 160R. With over 900 horsepower in the hybrid McLaren supercar, and about 80 horses in the track day Caterham, there’s no question who’s gonna win the race. But it’s still fun to watch the two cars side-by-side on the track, if only for the sheer ridiculousness of it all.

It’s interesting to note that had they left the P1 in pure electric mode, the 160R would have won the race. 0-to-60 time for the 160R is 6.5 seconds, while the P1 in electric only mode is just North of 9 seconds.
