WaterCar Panther: World’s Fastest Amphibious Vehicle
The Panther is an amphibious vehicle built by WaterCar of Fountain Valley, California, a fiberglass fabricator. Not surprisingly, the Panther is based on a custom designed fiberglass hull that has front-end styling cues that resemble a Jeep Wrangler. Under the hood sits a Honda V6 V-Tec engine attached to a patented transfer case allowing the power to be sent to the tires or the Panther Jet water propulsion system.
With a top speed on the water of 44 mph, WaterCar claims the Panther is the fastest amphibious vehicle available today. Pricing of the complete Panther is $155,000(USD) or you can order it without the V-Tec engine and transaxle for $126,000. We’ve never seen one of these on the road, but they do look very capable both on the road and on the water. We’re not sure they’d be our first choice for a day on the sand dunes or fishing with friends, but we can’t do both with any of the cars we currently own, can you?
