On the Land Rover and Virgin Galactic Partnership

A while back, Land Rover announced a partnership with spacecraft maker Virgin Galactic, but we really wondered what possible way the two companies might actually work together. While we’re still not sure exactly what they’ve got up their sleeves beyond co-marketing, these videos give us insight into the similarities between automotive and aerospace design and engineering.

In the first clip, Tony Harper, Head of Research & Advanced System Engineering and Murray Dietsch, Program Director at Land Rover and Matt Stinemetze, Program Manager for Spaceship Two at Virgin Galactic discuss the complexities of engineering products and designing for the future. In the video below, Karl Richards, Principal Engineer & Test Driver at Land Rover and Dave Mackay, Head Pilot at Virgin Galactic, talk about the importance of testing and how human nature drives us to explore:

On September 3rd, 2014, Land Rover and Virgin Galactic plan on revealing more, but we presume it has something to do with the Land Rover Discovery Vision.
